Saudi Arabia Block Viber Application

Instant messaging app Viber chief said freedom of the people in Saudi Arabia have taken after their service blocked.

Talmon Marco told the BBC he did not know the reason for blocking it but he promised Viber will soon recover.

In March, the Saudi government warns Viber and other encrypted instant messaging service that they will be blocked unless they provide a tool for monitoring.

The fact that the phone service and free instant messaging Viber is no longer functioning in the country is not unexpected.

Saudi telecom regulator has warned that the company, as well as Skype and Whatsapp that all three will be blocked if you refuse to be monitored.

Marco told the BBC that internet service providers and mobile operators Arabia began asking for information about the internal workings of their service two months ago.

"We assume the reason they want to know is to look for ways to tap conversations in our services, listen to what users say, read the messages," he said.
